Nymphs are creatures directly connected with nature. Most argue this aspect is due to their direct connection with Adora, who created them alongside Earth. However, Nymphs are not all nature powerful. They typically are powerful with specific types of plants, such as tree nymphs and flower nymphs. Each nymph has their own particular connection, meaning there is a large variety of nymphs.

It is also very possible for there to be male nymphs, as most believe they are all beautiful women. Regardless of this belief, males do exist. They’re simply just not as abundant, and when spotted, are typically mistaken for their females. This in result gives nymphs an extremely feminine outlook, which can sometimes cause turmoil with those who have sexist views. Regardless, Fae’s are still powerful creatures and are not to be fooled around with.

 Emodiments of divine agents

All nymphs, whose number is almost infinite, may be divided into five classes. Each class embraces those who must be regarded as a kind of inferior divinities, recognized in the worship of nature. The phenomena of ordinary nature is a result of some manifestation of the nymphs; springs, rivers, grottoes, trees, and mountains, all of them fraught with life. Nymphs are believed to be nothing more than personification of the salutary and beneficent powers of nature; however it remains true they exist within the world. Sometimes they are regarded as divine creatures, however they typically avoid all contact with humans as humans are deemed irrational and destructive creatures in correspondance to the damage done upon their homes.

Classes of Nymphs

The nymphs of each class must again be sub-latter divided into various species, according to the different parts of nature of which they are the representatives.

1. Nymphs of the watery element.

Here we first mention the nymphs of the ocean,  (Ὠκεανῖναι), and next the nymphs of the Mediterranean or inner sea. The nymphs of fresh water, whether of rivers, lakes, brooks, or wells, are also designated by the general name eleionomae (ἑλειονόμοι) Even the rivers of the lower regions are described as having their nymphs. They typically take on a more watery form or their abilities are related to water as a whole.

Many of these presided over waters or springs which were believed to inspire those that drank of them, and hence the nymphs themselves were thought to be endowed with prophetic or oracular power, and to inspire men with the same. This leads to the belief that Nymphs can gift prophetic or oracular power which is no more than a myth. They are simply guardians of their origins and are typically wise enough to give good advice.

2. Nymphs of mountains and grottoes.

These nymphs are called orodemniades (ὀροδεμνιάδες) and are a much rarer version of nymphs as a whole. They typically take on rather rocky features, which involves greyer skin tones and occassional moss.

3. Nymphs of forests, groves, and glens.

These nymphs are considered the more mischevious version of nymphs as they used to frighten solitary travelers. They are designated by the name napaeae (vαπαῖαι). They tend to have similar features to nymphs of trees, however the key difference is the obvious grassy features.

4. Nymphs of trees.

These nymphs were believed to die together with the trees which had been their abode, and with which they had come into existence. They are called hamadruades (ἁμαδρυάδες) which signifies not only an oak, but any wild-growing lofty tree; for the nymphs of fruit trees are called meliades (μηλιάδες). Their features typically consist of branches and leaves; while nymphs of fruit trees have slightly more colors.

5. Nymphs of flowers and plants.

These nymphs are one of the most abundant and colorful. They represent all kinds of flowers and plants, creating it's own separate class. They are called chthoniai (χθόνιαι) which signifies sweet beauty. Their features are the most colorful of all classes, creating a wide variety that cannot be listed. However all colors must be natural in nature.
